Vancouver Aquarium is pleased to announce a new four-year partnership with Xerox Canada, the world’s leading enterprise for business process and document management solutions. Through this exclusive partnership, Xerox Canada will provide the Vancouver Aquarium with new high-tech reprographic solutions, as well as services and training.
In 2009, the Vancouver Aquarium, leading the way in good corporate environmental practices, adopted an Environmental Management System and, within it, an Environmental Policy. As such, acquisitions of goods and services must reflect the conservation goals and values of the organization. The Aquarium evaluates consumption reduction options, conducts lifecycle analyses, and works with suppliers to select environmentally-friendly solutions.
As part of its commitment to continuously reduce our environmental footprint, the Aquarium is pleased to work with Xerox Canada. Its team provided guidance to not only help “green” our operations, but also acquire technology solutions that will help us operate more efficiently and effectively.
Xerox has a proven track record globally in sustainability. In Canada, the company received an Excellence in Corporate Responsibility award in 2011, and recently rolled out a new waste prevention program aimed at keeping hundreds of thousands of kilograms of spent imaging supplies out of landfills annually. The Xerox Research Centre of Canada (XRCC) was recognized this year with the Ontario Green Chemistry and Engineering Award by the Chemical Institute of Canada for its contributions to this field of practice.
“We view sustainability not as a cost of doing business, but as a way of doing business,” said Emechete Onuoha, vice president of Citizenship and Government Affairs at Xerox Canada. “We know from experience that when we act in ways that benefit the environment, we make sound business decisions that benefit our customers, employees, investors and the communities where we work and live. We are honoured to partner with the Vancouver Aquarium in support of their conservation and operational goals.”
Due to the work of the organization’s Environmental Management System, the Vancouver Aquarium has made tremendous strides in reducing organizational waste and resources. In 2011, the organization reduced its overall electrical consumption by 14 per cent and diverted 84 per cent of the Aquarium’s wastes from the city landfill to the organization’s enhanced recycling and composting programs.
The Aquarium is delighted to welcome Xerox Canada – one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers in 2012 – as an official solutions supplier. Together, the Vancouver Aquarium and Xerox will continue their commitment to reduce waste and minimize impact on the environment.
