On September 20, the Vancouver Aquarium will stay open late for a unique experience: After Hours, an adults-only evening.

After Hours is a fantastic opportunity for adults 19 years and older to experience the Aquarium in a whole new way. While the kids are sleeping, adults enjoy the peace and tranquility of our galleries during this special evening from 6 – 10 p.m.

The September After Hours event will feature the world premiere of BBC Earth’s The Great Salmon Run 4-D Experience. This captivating show follows one of B.C‘s most iconic species as it makes the epic journey swimming upstream along the beautiful coast of British Columbia. We are showing multiple screenings throughout the evening, and be warned – this show features an array of exciting sensory 4-D effects!

The evening will also include two opportunities to learn about salmon and sustainability. You can witness “Salmon CSI,” an interactive salmon dissection that examines the inner workings of a salmon and also highlights the challenges they face to survive. Visitors will hear from one of our experts, Mike McDermid, from the Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program.

The event also features hands-on learning at our Wet Lab. Get a first-hand glimpse of some of the animals that are featured in the education programs that take place at the Aquarium. Be prepared to get your hands a little wet in the process!

Our charismatic and acrobatic Pacific white-sided dolphins will also make an appearance at After Hours, and they never fail to delight!

Avoid disappointment and get your tickets now. Our last two After Hours events sold out very quickly. Tickets are available here – but won’t be available at the door. Food, wine and beer will also be available for purchase.

* This is a 19+ event. Photo ID required for entry.
NO tickets available at the door.
Alcohol is available ONLY with the purchase of food

Thanks for your question, Brittany. For each After Hours, we try to offer a special program that highlights something new in our exhibit – this time, we will be debuting a new film in our 4D theatre called “The Great Salmon Run,” along with “Salmon CSI,” a special salmon dissection and talk. The behind-the-scenes shark tour that was held during the very first After Hours won’t be conducted this time, but we hope you can join us for some of the great programming we have planned for this upcoming one on Sept. 20!
