The Vancouver Aquarium’s AquaVan, presented by BC Hydro, is hitting the road once again! Starting October 22, the AquaVan, in essence, the Aquarium’s “mobile aquarium,” will be bringing the wonders of the oceans to schools and community events in northern Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast. Visiting Cumberland, Courtenay, Comox, Port Hardy and Powell River, AquaVan will provide a unique opportunity for approximately 1,000 children and 500 residents to discover the connections between marine environments, aquatic animals and themselves.
Although the ocean may be close for many residents in Vancouver Island, the AquaVan’s use of props will allow the participants to have up-close encounters with live sea animals, such as sea urchins, sea anemones, snails and sea stars, to help them learn more about the connection they have with our oceans, and what role they can have in marine life conservation.
Here’s the schedule of schools and communities where the AquaVan will be visiting:

|October 23 and 24||Valley View Elementary||Courtenay|
