The Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program marks a major milestone today with the launch of Canada’s first Chinese Ocean Wise restaurant: The Original Szechuan Chongqing Seafood Restaurant. With over 30 successful years behind them, the hugely popular restaurant is making a progressive move towards sustainability.
Szechuan Chongqing has been owned and operated by the Wong family for three decades, and is now led by brother-and-sister team Robert and Lisa Wong. Chef Robert Wong, a highly trained and travelled fourth-generation chef, is the only chef in the world to ever receive a Michelin star for Szechuan cuisine. He’s also received an award for “Best of the Best Szechuan Cuisine” by Tourism Hong Kong and was the youngest chef to be included in the list of “Top 100 Chefs in China.”
The Wong family is joining their commitment to quality with a commitment to our oceans. With this launch, Szechuan Chongqing’s menu will begin featuring Ocean Wise options.
