Kudos to Dr. John Nightingale, president and CEO of the Vancouver Aquarium, for his reappointment to the Canadian Polar Commission Board of Directors.

For the past 25 years, Dr. Nightingale has taken a leadership role promoting awareness of biology and conservation through innovative public education programs. Under his leadership, the Vancouver Aquarium launched Arctic Connections, an initiative that highlights environmental issues facing Canada’s North and promotes dialogue between northern and southern Canadians. Dr. Nightingale was first appointed to the Canadian Polar Commission’s Board of Directors in November 2010.

The Canadian Polar Commission was established by the federal government in 1991 to monitor and raise public awareness of polar regions, and advise government on policy direction related to the North Pole.
