After Hours gives our grown-up guests a chance to enjoy the peace and tranquility of our galleries without children underfoot. On this special evening, you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer while exploring our new feature, The Secret World of Sharks and Rays, in an adults-only environment.
Launching on February 7, The Secret World of Sharks and Rays explores the fascinating lives of the not-so-famous sharks and their cousins—the skates, rays and ratfishes. Learn about the hunting strategies, survival techniques, and incredible adaptations of these captivating fishes as well as the issues that threaten them.
You won’t want to miss our newest residents, like the beautifully-coloured zebra shark and elegant whiprays, or the odd-looking tasseled wobbegong shark, with its lacy beard and camouflaged skin.
Watch a diver get up close and personal with the sharks and whiprays during a dive show in the Tropic Zone. Or learn about local sharks during a dive show in the Pacific Canada Pavilion. Or hear from a shark researcher about his personal shark experiences during his talk, “Swimming with Sharks,” in the Underwater Arctic Gallery.
After Hours also includes hands-on learning in our Wet Lab. Get a first-hand glimpse of some of the animals that are featured in the education programs that take place at the Aquarium. Be prepared to get your hands a little wet in the process!
There will be multiple screenings throughout the evening of BBC Earth’s The Great Salmon Run 4-D Experience shot right here on the coast of beautiful British Colombia. Take a seat in our theatre and experience the array of exciting sensory effects.
Food, wine and beer will be available for purchase. Avoid disappointment and get your ticket now. Our last After Hours event sold out very quickly. Tickets are available here – but won’t be available at the door.
