It is no secret that the Vancouver Aquarium is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike but what does that look like in numbers? Here is a little peak into how we did this summer:

  • More than $400,000 Raised at the annual Night at the Aquarium Gala
  • 336,889 Members, locals and overseas tourists visited the Aquarium
  • 32,104 Hours contributed by our dedicated volunteers
  • 17,344 Burgers and 15,694 hot dogs sold at our cafés
  • 6,743 Butterflies released into the Graham Amazon Gallery
  • 1,971 Interpretive programs delivered
  • 1500 Visitor satisfaction index surveys completed
  • 1,025 4D shows run
  • 880 New users downloaded the Snappz app and 16 new questions were added
  • 665 Comments received from feature shows and presentations
  • 632 Participants in Member’s Wet Lab Mondays
  • 604 Volunteers, work experience and practicum students were involved with the Aquarium
  • 583 Children participated in summer camps
  • 200 Food services surveys completed
  • 125 exit surveys completed
  • 108 Comment cards submitted onsite and online
  • 14 Members only events
  • 14 Tourism award nominations
  • 11 Sunday family fun day shows
  • 9 New programs created for the Courtyard, TECK Engagement Gallery and Cannacord Pacific Gallery
  • 9 Weddings held at the Aquarium
  • 5 Partner programs held on the Bill Reid plaza
  • 1 polka dot piano in partnership with #KeystotheStreets that inspired countless people to  play their favourite tune
  • 1 super successful grand opening weekend marking the biggest expansion in our history

Your visit not only helped to inspire and connect you to the aquatic world, but helped the Aquarium support important research, education and direct action programs that benefit our oceans and the marine animals that live in them.
