It’s almost Valentine’s Day, and if you’re looking for a special way to celebrate le jour d’amour, Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre has irresistible outings and gorgeous gift ideas for every love on your list.

If fishy fun fits the bill, treat your Valentine to our annual Hugs & Fishes dinner on Feb. 14. The evening begins with a superb three-course plated dinner in the Tropical Gallery, enjoyed next to floating jellyfish and blacktip reef sharks (view menu). After dinner, veterinary fellow Dr. Justin Rosenberg will discuss the “birds and the bees” of your favourite sea creatures before leading a special behind-the-scenes tour through our Wetlab and fish research centre.

Looking for something more traditional to charm your beloved with? Our gift shop and boutique have handmade, sustainable gifts including sea-themed jewelry, hand-carved wooden serving bowls and other kitchen wares and handcrafted apparel.

This Valentine’s Day love isn’t only in the air it’s also under the water. We’ll be showing off our love for whales with additional educational programming including a brand new talk about Chester, the false killer whale who was rescued last year after being stranded and near death on a beach off the coast of Vancouver Island.

Hear about Chester’s rescue and recovery during this new whale talk.

You can show off your love for whales by giving the gift of conservation by adopting a wild whale through the Killer Whale Adoption Program. Choose a specific whale to “adopt” and your sweetheart will receive a kit containing the adoption certificate with the name and year of birth of the whale, an ID photo and the biography of your adopted whale. Your adoption funds critical wild whale research conducted by leading experts at the Vancouver Aquarium.

Even better, give those with a deep love for the ocean the gift of Vancouver Aquarium membership. As a member, your Valentine will experience a whole new level of access to the Aquarium and membership directly supports our many conservation, research and education initiatives.

Remember, no matter how you celebrate the love in your life this Valentine’s Day, by visiting or shopping at the Vancouver Aquarium, you’re helping to support our mission to conserve aquatic life.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
