Our annual fundraising gala, Night at the Aquarium, is one of Vancouver’s most unforgettable philanthropic events of the year where guests celebrate ocean conservation. Taking place June 18, Night at the Aquarium brings together Vancouver’s top Ocean Wise chefs, delicious wines and an incredible live and silent auction, all against an enchanting aquatic background.

Presented by PCL Construction Group, this evening gala features 17 Ocean Wise™ restaurants from Vancouver and the surrounding area, including Yew seafood + bar, Forage, Chambar, and Pointe Restaurant at Wickaninnish Inn.

Ocean Wise chefs, like executive chef Frank Pabst of Blue Water, show their support for our oceans.

Sweet treats will be prepared by Bella Gelateria, Daniel le Chocolat Belge, Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts and Temper Pastry. On hand pouring for the evening are wineries from across the province including Blue Mountain, Burrowing Owl and Sage Hills, as well as specialty cocktails provided by Walter All-Natural Craft Caesar Mix and Long Table Distillery.

Guests can start off the night with a toast of Taittinger champagne.

Samantha Robertson, event coordinator at the Vancouver Aquarium, says, “Night at the Aquarium will offer our guests an unparalleled gala experience. We have amazing surprises in store and we’re excited to have Side One, Vancouver’s premier event band, perform late into the night. You’ll want to bring your dancing shoes!”

As a non-profit society, the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre’s signature gala raises funds for critical programs such as our Marine Mammal Research Program, which conducts ground-breaking research on endangered southern resident and threatened Bigg’s (transient) killer whales and our Marine Mammal Rescue Centre, which rescues, rehabilitates and releases more than 100 stranded animals a year.

Funds also directly support national direct action programs, such as our Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup™ program, presented by Loblaw Companies Limited, which brings together 58,000 Canadians a year to help keep shorelines free of litter, and our national sustainable seafood program, Ocean Wise™, which helps to protect depleting seafood stocks.
