They’re here! The newest member of the Vancouver Aquarium’s Aquadopt family – harbour seals have made their way to our gift shop and online store just in time to coincide with the busy rescue season already underway at our Marine Mammal Rescue Centre with 80 seals on site.

Each year, more than 100 seal pups are rescued and rehabilitated at the Rescue Centre, spending several months in care before being released once they are healthy and strong enough to survive on their own. The cost to care for this rescue and rehabilitation is over $2,000 per seal pup, and as a non-profit organization, the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre does not receive ongoing funds to support this important rescue work.
