The gorgeous tints of the in-house crew at the Vancouver Aquarium’s Pride After Hours make this event the most colourful of Pride Week.

On August 1, glorious butterflies will feature among the more than 30,000 fierce (ish) glittering, gleaming and glowing inhabitants of the Aquarium dressed in colours and patterns that even this event’s larger-than-life drag queens would envy. As the crowd wets its whistle at our bars full of craft beer, wine and cocktails, and dines on hot dogs, pizza and ice cream, Raye Sunshine, Kendall Gender and Sienna Blaze will enthrall and amuse, and our two DJs will ensure the dancing is fast and furious.

Guests at this adults-only night of nights tend to dress, and dance, to impress, as wildly as they can – after all, the creatures in our habitats and tanks provide a lot of competition. (Partiers are asked not to wear sequins, glitter or beads, which aren’t ocean-friendly.) Salty stories about coral sex and the sex lives of sharks will help break the ice as Pride celebrants forge new friendships inside our galleries and out on our decks. Two stages of entertainment will keep the party going, as will the presence of the Vancouver Pride Society.

Yas, queen! Y’all gotta bring your posse. This unfettered fiesta is the perfect Pride evening out.
