Join our Ocean Wise Educators to go through a citizen science project – come on a journey with us to map killer whales on the amazing British Columbia Coast, get an inside look into the data that scientists are using and think about what this data could mean. We will map killer whale location data and discuss what this data might tell us.  AND hear from the Ocean Wise Plastic Lab team about their microfiber research in part 1 of their talk.

Friday, September 25 – Biodiversity and Stewardship Connections
Science Literacy Week wraps up with the Ocean Wise Education team’s deep dive into the fact that biodiversity and stewardship are inextricably linked. Ecosystems across the land have been cared for, monitored and changes observed for millennia by Indigenous Peoples. We will hear the creation story of the Musqueam People, one of the Coast Salish Peoples. Author and artist Melaney Gleeson Lyall from the Musqueam Nation will share her book: Animals of the Salish Sea with us, as we make connections between some of the animals highlighted in Animals of the Salish Sea and those animals in our Wet Lab at the Vancouver Aquarium, highlighting some of the amazing biodiversity of the animals living on our coast.
Time: 10 am PDT
Register online:  http://bit.ly/StewardshipandBiodiversity

All events are virtual.
